Classroom Rules and Expectations
I am looking forward to an exciting and successful year with all of you. As an introduction to this year’s courses, basic class behavior and expectations have been outlined. If you have any questions or concerns about classroom policies please feel free to email me.
RESPECT
The golden rule! Respect yourself. Respect others. Respect learning. It is expected as young adults that you treat each other with the same respect that you deserve. This means respecting everyone’s ideas, opinions, religion, culture, gender, race, way of life, etc. When a person is speaking it is expected that he or she receive everyone’s undivided attention.
TARDINESS
Class begins when the bell rings. Tardiness will not be tolerated. See the student handbook or check online for district guidelines regarding tardiness. Students who are late more than TWO times in a marking period with out an appropriate pass will receive an after-school detention. If a student is more than 15 minutes late this counts as CUT and will be written a cut slip as stated in the District Student Handbook. A cut counts as a class absence.
ABSENCES
A student who is absent must make up all work. Students are responsible for checking the class website, Remind101 messages, asking for assignments, and making up any missed class notes. If a student misses a test, he/she will take the test the first day he/she returns to class, unless otherwise discussed with the teacher. After FIVE absences constitutes administrative failure for the marking period.
LATE WORK POLICY
Please see the Course Syllabus regarding the submission of late homework, essay, and project assignments.
PLAGIARISM
Plagiarism will not be tolerated. If you are caught plagiarizing in an essay or project you will be given an automatic ZERO for the assignment. THIS IS NO JOKE AND I TAKE IT VERY SERIOUSLY. It can not be made up or redone for a new grade. I will notify home as well as your Vice Principal. You will receive a Saturday School as per District policy in the Student Handbook.
TECHNOLOGY
I am a huge fan of using technology in the classroom. However, I will not tolerate the abuse of cell phones and laptops when not instructed. There will be consequences for abusing technology privileges and/or disruptive behavior. First, I will issue a warning. Second offense, (depending on the severity) I will issue either a teacher Detention or you will be sent to your Vice Principal with a Written Infraction.
